On November 8, over 300 people attended Council 4's biennial Law Enforcement Awards at the Aria Banquet Hall in Prospect. This year Council 4 awarded 36 police and correction officer members for their dedication to public service and going above and beyond in the line of duty.

Five Local 1565 members were awarded the Correctional Preservation of Life Award given to candidates based upon an incident or event when the officer takes spontaneous and immediate action in response to a life-threatening illness or injury which would otherwise have resulted in the potential permanent injury or an immediate death.

Special awards were given to the families of fallen Bristol police offers Lieutenant Dustin Delmonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy who were killed in the line of duty last year. Bristol officer Alec Iurato who sustained injuries during the shooting was also recognized. Montville Officer Dan Witts and his K-9 German Shepard Barrett who died this year from injuries sustained during an encounter with a suspect were also given special recognition.
Council 4 salutes these officers for the knowledge, skills, and abilities that allow them to return home to their families, to continue to serve the public, and for joining us for evening to honor the brave men and women of Council 4 law enforcement.
